Join me on a tour of the wonderfully frivolous world of television, movies, and media. Today's modern world couldn't be more inane--but would we want it any other way?

Osama and Bush
I just had a horrifying thought today as I was reading about how the Republican party is just tanking in our country: imagine what happens if somehow the President and his cronies are able to pull Osama bin Laden out of their asses before the November elections? It seems like so many more people are finally waking up to the realities of the crazy Iraq war. A majority of Americans can now see how Bush and his peeps have no foreign or domestic policy worth talking about. But if by some strange chance Bush and his minions happen to stumble upon Osama before the elections, everything could change at the drop of a hat. Ugh.

Personally, I think if the Republicans are going to - how did you phrase it "tank"? - it will be because America's military power hasn’t been fully wielded. It will be because we did not go into Iraq aggressively enough, did not carpet bomb the hell out of the Afghani mountains, and we have not tactical nuked Iran's atomic weapons program into vapor. Couple that with not aggressively defending our borders and not dealing with the illegal invasion coming through the porous Mexican border, as well as a fondness for new "entitlement" programs like the prescription drug rat-hole, and that will be why they may lose seats.
There is however, one very good reason to vote for the Republicans this November: the Democrats. For example, other than "we need a new strategy," or "we need to do things differently," or "we need to leave Iraq but be able to redeploy quickly (from Okinawa?),” would you please lay out point by point any coherent DNC foreign policy other than negotiate and appease? With the Democrats the War on Terror will become completely a UN/EU “dancing with the devil” police action, we’ll still get the cultural suicide of "amnesty" for, eventually up to 150 million, un-assimilating foreigners, and drastically higher taxes to go with the monstrous entitlement programs.
I may not agree in total with the current Republican administration, but I believe that the GOP can be made to see the light on a more forceful war, illegal immigration and entitlements. I have no such hope at all for the DNC.
The November elections are going to be interesting, very interesting.
I love this post. Okay..we didn't go to war with Iraq because of terrorist activity - we went in because of a perceived threat of WMD which as weakly supported at best. If we didn't go in "aggresively enough", it is the Republicans' fault - so why do you still feel comfy cozy with them? As for Afghanistan, that was done well, minus the Osama part. We've let that go to hell because we haven't stayed the course. Once again...Republicans. And Iran? Ok, we were so successful with Iraq, let's follow it up with Iran - a country much more capable of fighting back than Iraq. I'm sure the Republicans will win that one really well. 3 for 3 if you think along your logic.
That thing is, 9/11 was horrible. But those things have occurred in other countries for years. It's not a war in the typical sense. The Republicans think it can be won by imposing democracy through war, which makes no sense.
I'm also sick of hearing about entitlements, immigration, and getting out of Iraq asap as the Democratic motto. Democrats by in large want the Iraq "war" to end and help that country get on its feet. We're there unfortunately, and we need to help that country not fall into civil war. It seems Republicans want to invade Iraq and expect Iraq to just pick up the pieces and move on...it doesn't work that way. WE invaded THEM - we have to help until the end...and that's coming from a democrat.
As for entitlements, one person's entitlement is another person's 'tax write-off'. We all have entitlements in this country, whether it is getting food assitance to feed your child if you're poor or getting to write-off your Land Rover because it qualifies as a company truck.
But go ahead, sleep tight knowing that Americans are looked at now as ugly ego driven maniacs who want to impose rule on the world...that sounds like a really sweet way to live.
I would argue that most Republicans are not like Bush and his administration. Or even like Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter. But unfortunately, they are the ruling Republicans and talking heads of our day; and the U.S. is a mess.
What happened to controled spending and small government? Both of those things are out the window. What happened to honesty and open government. Again, nonexistent with this administration.
The U.S. is not safer. Flying is a hassle. Iraq is a mess. Afghanistan is being taken over again by the Taliban. Screening at airports is poor. Republicans control the government, yet some people are so party loyal they can't even criticize it.
Amazing.
I think this post is ridiculous. You make no argument and present nothing more than sheer opinion and large amounts of conjecture. You are in effect doing what the Bush administration is largely accused of doing: Feeding Scare Tactics. Honestly, ground your statements in analysis, facts and data before spouting off some fleeting thought of the moment. Knock Bush but don't generalize the republican party. Not all Republicans support Bush and it is time that the church of liberalism starts to understand this. This post is nothing more than a consumer's view of politics: not really caring much to think hard about the topic but more than happily offer up an opinion.
So what is your point other than to call my post ridculous and add your own conjecture and opinion? If you aren't like Bush, and so many Republicans aren't as you put it, then why aren't you vocal about it? Like it or not, the radical Republicans are ruling right now - that's just a fact. So you can criticize my post or you can show that you're not an idiot like Bush, whom I am sure you actually still support.
I have to laugh at all of these posts. No offense to the Republican who is trying to say not all Republicans are like Bush - but the Iraq war is a mess - fact. We are spending money irresponsibly and the deficit is out of control - fact. You can't turn on any news shows expressing a Republican opinion without hearing a shouting match our how any critical opinion is along the lines of Nazi sympathizers - fact (thanks to Rumsfeld). So just face facts, the Republicans have fuckes us up. If there are some decent ones out there, they sure are quiet. Okay, maybe Olympia Snow is ok and fairly vocal.
To the guy or gal who wrote that "this post is ridiculous". Uh, politics is for the "consumer". That's what a democracy is all about. I also didn't see you offer any analysis or anything other than your opinion. Funny how it's okay to do it when it's your own opinion.
I'm not a Democrat, but I'm certainly not a Republican. I'm ashamed of our country right now. The Bush administration overreacted to 9/11 and we're in a bad situation in Iraq and Afghanistan - that's a fact. So that's just the facts.
Fact- no WMDs in Iraq
Fact - national deficit is huge
Fact - Iraq had no ties with Al Qaieda
Fact - state budgets and TSA budgets are being cut to defend against terrorist activities - yet Bush says that priority #1 - does that make sense?
Fact - Americans do not feel safer
Fact - our borders are not safer
Fact - 45 million people are without health-care
Fact - social security is in trouble and we're not talking about it
The Republicans stated when they gained control that things would be better because Democrats would not control anything. Well, that hasn't happened. In no way were Democrats right about everything or had the solutions. But Republican arrogance, greed, and ignorance have really fucked our country up. It's just a fact.
Liberal democrats have zero solutions. Radical republicans are fucked-up (how is that for hastly generalization and conjecture). It is time for a viable third party. I agree with the guy/gal who said statements like this (those in this post) should be grounded in fact. Just stating something is fact and not citing a primary source, like so many of us are guilty of doing, keeps it as opinion and I guess conjecture and just makes this one big ol' mess. I think it is time for unity, and a viable third party with strength and vision might be able to do that. Too bad most of us live in a town where people are ready to gouge each other's eyes out over party lines and loyalties.
Let's argue about Project Runway....that is more fun 8-) I hate Ulie's deign asthetic. She is a flip flop queen who belongs designing for urban outfitter hippies...go ahead...argue!! NOW!

Tell that to Germany, Japan, and 99.9% of Eastern Europe. Oh nevermind, I'm sure it wasn't war or resolute opposition to communism that made those nations free; it was the "Peace Fairy" Jimmycarterbelle, who flitterd down from Kumbayya Land and sprinkled lovey-dovey dust all over them...
Hey... it's just a FACT!
